ChildFund –Kenya is recruiting a Chief of Party for an anticipated USAID funded program that will provide technical assistance to the government of Kenya on enhancing child social protections in order to better support vulnerable families and respond to cases of child protection at the national-level.
Key Responsibilities for Advertisement:The Chief of Party is a position that will provide overall leadership and technical oversight of all project activities. S/he will be responsible for managing donor relationships, monitoring program activities and demonstrating project results in accordance with project work plans and M&E plans.
Reporting and Supervision: The COP will report to the National Director and will be based in Nairobi with frequent travels to the field.
Responsibilities:
* Provide overall technical and managerial leadership, including technical oversight, financial management and administration, and sub-grants management, in compliance with USAID rules and regulations and contractual requirements.
* Liaise with USAID/Kenya, implementing partners, relevant government agencies and other donors. Chair Technical Advisory Group as described in the program description.
* Oversee implementation of all project activities, ensuring that project deliverables and milestones are met. Conduct field visits to ensure high quality project implementation and accurate reporting.
* Oversee sub-grantees and local partners, ensuring compliance with donor rules and contractual requirements. Mentor and build their capacity to manage donor-funded activities.
* Manage project, including cost control, performance monitoring through donor approved monitoring and evaluation systems, and accurate financial reporting.
* Lead project senior management team, as described in the program description.
* Disseminate project results and lessons learned as described in the program description.

* MA or PhD in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Sociology, Public Health, Development Studies, Public Administration, International Affairs, Business Administration or other relevant field.
* Prior experience as COP and/or DCOP (or Project Director) managing successful multi-million dollar and multi-year USAID-funded projects.
* At least 10 years of demonstrated experience implementing child protection programs.
* Demonstrated knowledge of USAID rules and regulations, including USAID Environmental Compliance and M&E Requirements.
* Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with multiple partners, overseeing local partners’ compliance with donor requirements.
* Proven monitoring and evaluation expertise. Familiar with USAID M&E standards.
* Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain key staff, and lead teams. Strong people management and mentoring skills.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, cross-cultural communication, and ability to manage high-level relationships.
* Strong technical writing in English and oral communication skills.
