Workforce Humanity Program Development Officer Internship Job in Kenya

Internship: Program Development Officer (Unpaid)

Overall Objective

The individual will identify, define and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as coordinate in the development, writing and submission of grant proposals to third-party entities. 

The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting data on the performance of program activities that are funded by third-party public and private sources.

Summary

Primary responsibility includes preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities.

Donor

Develops a fundraising strategy for the organizationConducts a donor mapping of institutional donors (EU, UN, USAID, AusAid etc) who’s priorities align with the strategyCapacity build team when necessaryEnsure the Program Management Cycle is implemented in program activitiesConduct a mapping of suitable foundations and develop proposal frameworksAssess potential means for individual support / donationsGenerates proposals and supporting documents in response to solicitationsDevelop a donor management tool where reports and history of donors can be easily trackedManage the upcoming reports and donor requirementsFacilitate the ‘kick off’ meetings to grantsDevelop communication materials such as newsletters, annual reports for donors and other stakeholdersHelp with the content of the websiteHelp with developing the annual strategy with the Country Director and staffRepresent the NGO with government and other stakeholdersMonitoring and EvaluationBuild monitoring and evaluation systems for program activities where necessaryTo perform the job successfully an individual should demonstrate some or all of the following competencies:Analytical – synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data, uses intuition and experience to complete data; designs work flows and proceduresDesign – Generates creative solutions; translates concepts and information into images; demonstrates attention to detailProblem solving – identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situationsTechnical Skills – Assess own strengths and weaknesses; pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills, shares expertise with othersTeamwork – balances team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectively and openness to others viewsQualifications

Qualified candidates should possess excellent writing and computer skills (Microsoft office word, power point and excel). 

The candidate must be highly organized with the ability to implement systems and follow-up progress, able to effectively work under pressure, use independent judgment and produce a quality of work within time constraints.

Masters degree in related discipline with a desire to work in the humanitarian sector. 

Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be proficient in research, interpreting and analyzing diverse data and possess the ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve state goals.
