With a team of experts, they focus on businesses that are shaping the economies of the countries in which they operate in.Job Summary: As the Managing Director, he / she will be responsible with building and leading a new Asset Management / Fund Management Firm in Kenya.
The Managing Director will serve in a key leadership role within the capital firm with his / her primary role being to manage existing client engagements, managing and closing current deals, creating relationships with clients and corporate partners while generating new business for the firm.
He/she will be assigned a wide variety of projects and will be given added leadership and responsibility as experience and capabilities permit.Primary Responsibilities:
Create and manage new deal flow while originating new client engagements that fit the strategy of the firm
Build and lead a team with the aim to set up the company and establish necessary licenses as required
Actively lead in outreach and business development opportunities and market full range of services to prospective clients
Manage a profit and loss giving final approval for new projects and finding ways to cut budget expenditure ensuring every program is generating positive Return On Investment (ROI)
Establish a Business Plan and giving start-up company direction
Establish and maintain relationships with potential referral sources in order to generate deal flow opportunities
Manage various organizations funds, such as High Net Worth Individuals Portfolio (HNWI portfolios) etc.
Spearhead the marketing of services both to internal colleagues and external clients, develop client networks, establish and maintain pipelines and support efforts in developing and executing sales and marketing strategies
Lead on a variety of transactions in all stages, from initial client pitch to transaction closing
Develop client reporting base
Communicate regulatory, financial information and complex strategic issues in a clear, concise and relevant manner to assist and guide decision-makers in corporate finance transactions
Ensure quality of client deliverables by demonstrating extraordinary attention to detail
Organise internal systems and reporting lines
Develop Assets Under Management (AUM)
Set yearly targets for the firm and develop new investment products
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree and/or membership of a relevant professional institution desired
A proven record of success in senior level general management, preferably in fund management.
At least ten years’ senior level experience in management
An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques.
Organization development, human resources management experience
Proven effectiveness managing others, empowering them to make decisions
A wide knowledge of the industry
Success seeing beyond the numbers, identifying trends and new possibilities
