Maasai Women Dairy Agrovet Retail Manager Job in Kajiado, Kenya




Recruitment of a Retail Manager

General Information: Maasai Kajiado Women Dairy Co-operative Society Ltd, a marketing cooperative society owned by dairy farmers from the larger Kajiado Central District was established in February 2005, by a group of 400 women who wanted to bulk and sell their milk collectively. 




The Society’s main activity revolves around milk collection, transportation, chilling and marketing of members’ milk to processors. 



It has an active of over 5,000 members with its dairy catchment covering about six divisions of Kajiado County (Magadi, Mashuru, Central, Isinya, Namanga and Loitokitok) that have varying physical, socio‐economic and environmental conditions. The Dairy targets 10,000 women by 2015.

 




Agrovet Description: Maasai Dairy opened agrovet stores outlet to enable their members have easier access dairy inputs and services for increased milk production. 



The dairy plans to promote innovative customer centric strategies on retail and distribution of dairy inputs and services..
 



General purpose: Agrovets should deliver the right product, at the right time of year, in the right way and in the right places.



 The individual will work with Maasai Dairy team, Input Suppliers and farmers to manage the Agrovet business activities meet the agro vet’s overall performance targets with the goal of improving business performance and prioritizing customer loyalty through Village networks, Buyers clubs, Promotional and Customer service strategies   




Main Activities


  • Analyze sales and forecast future sales, using information technology to record data analysis

  • Manage stock levels to  make key decisions about stock orders, and engaging in forward planning to meet future sales demand

  • Build relationships with small holder farmers to bring about customer satisfaction and loyalty

  • Execute farmer-orientated product/service bundling, in-shop and in-field  marketing promotions (including advertising seasonal inputs, in-store displays, and bulk discounts), agent networks, customer service and smallholder farmer training

  • Buld relationships with suppliers through better stock planning and management so as to earn supplier-driven bonuses and rewards to pass on to the farmers

  • Actively participate with  team members and board  of directors to analyze and interpret  trends to facilitate planning

  • Develop a sales and credit management regime coupled with a credit policy   


The Agrovet Retail Manager will have the following qualifications and skills:

Expected Skills



  • Degree in Business or Marketing with some experience in Retail

  • 3- 5 years’ experience working in a retail or merchandising environment 

  • Track record of building and managing strong relationships with either farmer groups, or the private sector

  • Proactive and willing to adopt different retail strategies to small holder farmers

  • Strong analytical and strategy skills

  • Pleasant personality, excellent communication, motivated self-starter with ability communicate with a wide range of audience groups

  • Passion for development and commitment to gender parity and women empowerment

  • Confident with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook


Desired Skills


  • Understanding of the dairy sector and the structure of a dairy cooperative

  • Relationship management with government (general multi-dimensional stakeholder management)

  • Awareness of basic governance principles and group dynamics

  • Ability to solve problems calmly and thinks on their feet
