international development agency managing a robust and expanding portfolio of

multi-sectorial initiatives that includes programmes in education, early

childhood development, health, nutrition and civil society strengthening:




Project Manager, Documenting

Sustainable Babycares Models in Nairobi’s Informal Settlements (Kenya): 


Do you have the creativity,

evaluative skills and project management experience to oversee, document and

disseminate lessons using video and other visual formats? 


The Aga Khan Foundation (East Africa)

is seeking a dynamic and qualified Project Manager for a newly funded project

that seeks to assess the implementation of several social franchising models

with babycares across Nairobi, documenting and showcasing the learnings to a

variety of audiences. 


The position is based in Nairobi.
 


The Project Manager will be expected

to take lead on planning, coordinating and overseeing project activities to

support the goal of the one-year Building a Brighter Future for Vulnerable

Children in Nairobi’s Urban Settlements Project in Kenya. 


The Project Manager will be

responsible for the implementation of the project in at least three wards in

Nairobi’s urban informal settlements. 


The project is implemented by the AKF

East Africa in partnership with the Aga Khan University (AKU)’s Institute of

Human Development (IHD), Kidogo Early Years, and Daraja Civic Initiatives Forum

(DCIF).


 
The Project Manager will oversee the implementation and reporting of the

project, including overseeing project progress, the timely implementation of

activities, the provision of sub-grants and consulting contracts as needed, coordinating

with staff from AKF and the other partners on a daily basis. 


Project outputs will include:


·                    
Overseeing technical support provided

to 32 babycare centres in Kangemi, Kisumu Ndogo and Babadogo wards, benefitting

over 380 children and their parents


·                    
Overseeing the creative documentation

of several pilot ECD models which investigate the challenges and positive

examples of delivering holistic care to children under the age of five


·                    
Overseeing the dissemination of these

findings using social media and forums to capture the attention of various

stakeholders including key decision makers within government, civil society,

private sector and communities


The Project Manager reports

operationally to the Regional Health Manager at AKF in Kenya, but will also provide

project updates and progress reports to AKF Program Officer in the USA and a

local Steering Committee compromised of the key partners on the project.



The ideal candidate will have:


·                    
A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in

ECD, health, education, communications or related fields;


·                    
At least three years’ experience in

the ECD sector in developing countries, preferably East Africa.



·  At least

three years’ technical and financial experience in managing projects (ECD,

health, education) in developing countries.


· 

Demonstrated capacity to write quality reports for donor projects;


·  Exceptional

written and verbal skills in English. Knowledge of Kiswahili will be an

advantage;


·  Strong

analytical, organisational, interpersonal, negotiation and problem-solving

skills;


·  Experience

in monitoring & evaluation and videography is an added advantage;


·  Experience

of working with the Hilton Foundation and other bilateral donors is desirable.


2. Videographer (1 Post)
 


Videographer, Documenting Sustainable

Babycares Models in Nairobi’s Informal Settlements (Kenya): 


Are you an experienced videographer

or videography firm with an interest in Early Childhood Development (ECD) in

Kenya? 


Do you have the creativity, public

relations skills and innovation to capture this using video and other visual

products? 


The Aga Khan Foundation (East Africa)

is seeking to procure the services of a videographer to prepare a series of

videos on several babycare models being implemented by the Aga Khan
Development Network (AKDN) and Kidogo in Nairobi’s urban informal settlements.
 


Reporting to the Project Manager, the

Videographer will be expected to take lead on planning, producing, filming,

editing, translating and subtitling and overall production of a series of

videos materials to showcase the lessons learned from AKDN and Kidogo’s social

franchising early childhood models. 


The videographer will work with the

Project Manager and technical leads from each partner to creatively showcase

the challenges and positive examples of delivering holistic care to children

under the age of three. 


These materials will then be packaged

and disseminated to capture the attention of various stakeholders including key

decision makers within government, civil society, private sector and

communities.



Project outputs will include:
 


1) Production of one 15-20 minute

“documentary” video detailing AKDN and Kidogo’s social franchise baby care

models



2) Production of a series of short educational video clips which can be used to

enhance the training package for baby care caregivers and/or parents



3) Production of several shorter promotional clips disseminated via various

communication channels (e.g., social media) to solicit wider understanding and

interest in the topic of early childhood development & baby care centers



Timeframe: Filming and production must be done within 90 days. The

deadline for the final products is 31st May, 2016.



The ideal candidate will have:


·                    
Well proven and demonstrated capacity

and experience in the field of video documentation, preferably in early

childhood development, education or social services


·                    
A portfolio of previous productions

that demonstrate creativity and highly engaging storytelling capabilities


·                    
Ability to cover several simultaneous

requests including in-house and field work


·                    
Ability to set clear timelines and

well scheduled work processes


·                    
Good connections with field coordinators

and technical personnel for efficient and effective field work with flexibility

and sensitivity to community expectations


·                    
Interest and passion in children and

development issues


·                    
Exceptional writing and verbal skills

in English. Knowledge of Kiswahili will be an advantage.


Previous experience working with an

AKDN agency or in the field of development is an asset.
