Survey Expert and Survey Statistician Jobs - AgResults Kenya On-Farm Storage Pilot Project



Survey Expert and Survey Statistician Positions
 



The AgResults Kenya On-Farm Storage Pilot project aims to address post harvest losses by incentivizing private sector companies to develop, market and distribute on-farm storage devices to smallholder farmers through an innovative pull mechanism. 



The Kenya project is one of other projects funded under the AgResults Initiative that is financed jointly by the governments of Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.




The AgResults Kenya On-Farm Storage Pilot project wishes to recruit a qualified Survey Expert, and a Survey Statistician, for upcoming large (approximately 50- 70K small-scale farmer respondents) market share surveys.


 


The Survey Expert will have a minimum 10 years’ experience leading/managing large and complex surveys to collect individual, household, and/or provider/firm-level data, coupled with a Master degree or equivalent in social sciences or a related field. 



The Survey Expert will also be experienced in 



(1) leading/managing survey fieldwork and logistics; 



(2) supervising data collection, monitoring, validating data, developing training materials, developing survey tools and executing trainings; 



(3) data quality management mechanisms (field work management, data entry programming, data validation, etc); 



(4) working knowledge of Stata or comparable statistical software; 



(5) extensive sampling and understands how to conduct randomization; 



(6) effectively facilitating communication between different stakeholders, government, non-government, and academic institutions; 



(7) strong interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate in English and Kiswahili.




The Survey Statistician will have a minimum 15 years’ experience providing statistical analysis, survey review and data validation, coupled with a PhD in economics, statistics, social sciences or other relevant field. 



The Statistician will also have 



(1) excellent quantitative and analytical background with a proven record of high quality analytical work, particularly related to agribusiness; 



(2) extensive knowledge of household surveys and other micro-and macro-economic data; 



(3) ability to deliver high-quality policy relevant analytic and advisory products within tight deadlines and budgets; 



(4) familiarity with Kenyan survey data.
