Plan
International has been operating in Kenya since 1982 and to-date
continues to work in 19 counties: Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Tharaka
Nithi, Siaya, Bungoma, Busia, Taita Taveta, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale,
Vihiga, Kakamega, Lamu, Kisii, Migori, Homabay, Kisumu and Marsabit.
Nilinde Project
Support
for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) for Nairobi and Coast
Counties of Kenya, is a USAID funded $41 million Cooperative Agreement
awarded to a consortium led by Plan International.
Known
locally as the Nilinde Project, this five-year initiative aims to
improve the welfare and protection of the most vulnerable households
affected by HIV/AIDS by reducing economic vulnerability and empowering
households to make investments that will improve the health and
well-being of OVC.
The Project operates in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Taita Taveta counties.
We are inviting applications for the following positions in Nilinde Project:
1. Regional Project Coordinator
(Nairobi) – 1 Position
The
Post holder will primarily be responsible for leading a portfolio of
implementing partners at the designated regional level and supporting
the work of County Coordinators (field staff) to ensure optimal project
implementation in line with project design and award, approved annual
work plans and work priorities.
To
deliver on this role, the Regional Coordinator will supervise the work
of 6- 8 County coordinators working in designated counties and will
ensure that both staff and implementing partners develop, plan and
implement activities aimed at improving the well-being of Orphans and
Vulnerable Children (OVC) and their households.
2. Team Leader Health & HIV/AIDS
(Nairobi) – 1 Position
The
Team Leader for Health & HIV/AIDS will support the expansion of
quality community- and household level initiatives to improve the
health and well-being of OVC.
S/he
will provide strategic leadership and coordination across a broad range
of health concerns, with a particular focus on HIV testing, care
& treatment and adherence.
S/he
will mentor technical staff, consortium and implementing partners at
the community level to deploy evidence-based strategies, clarify
standards, and adopt/adapt curricula and guidelines to deliver
family-centered, age appropriate services that achieve maximum impact.
S/he
will support the project’s case management strategy to improve timely
linkages and referrals to community, clinical (especially HIV) and
protective services.
In
addition, s/he will play a key role in the integration of health
messaging and health education in other project interventions.
S/he will be based at the Nilinde Nairobi Office, and will report to the DCOP/OVC Manager.
3. County Coordinator
Nairobi – 2 Positions and
Mombasa – 1 Position
S/he
shall be Nilinde’s first point of contact for a select number of
implementing partners on all programmatic, monitoring, evaluation,
reporting, and operational support issues.
The
County Coordinator will thus play a key role in the project’s capacity
building agenda, by providing hands-on support to partners in their
assigned counties.
Working
under the direct supervision of the Regional Coordinator Nairobi /
Mombasa and in partnership with technical staff, the incumbent will
ensure that SDPs are oriented on the Nilinde standards (technical and
monitoring & evaluation) and implement their respective scopes
of work (SOW) according to the standards, timelines and targets
provided.
4. Senior Operations Coordinator
(Mombasa) – 1 Position
The
post holder will be based in the Nilinde Mombasa office and will report
to the Head of Operations, based in Nairobi and will support the Head
of Operations (HOO) in overseeing the implementation of program
activities and be specifically responsible for all operations activities
in the Coast Region.
S/he ensures that project implementation is in accordance with USAID rules and regulations.
S/he
supports the HOO in ensuring quality in the management of Nilinde
Mombasa Office including but not limited to compliance, Administration
and Logistics, Finance and Procurement.
S/he directly supervises the Accountant and Office Co-ordinator based in Mombasa.
5. Senior Grants Coordinator
(Mombasa) – 1 Position
The post holder will report to the Grants Manager for the Nilinde Project at Plan International Kenya.
S/he will be directly responsible for overseeing all activities within the grants management cycle for the Coast Portfolio.
S/he
will work closely with the Nilinde Project Program teams for the
Project and co-ordinate the management of awards for Nilinde partners
based in the Coast Region.
In addition, the post holder will work with the Finance Manager and Risk and Compliance teams at the Country Office.
6. Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator
Nairobi – 1 Position and
Mombasa – 2 Positions
Under
the supervision of Senior Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor, the
M&E Coordinator will be responsible for mentoring SDP
M&E focal persons, conducting regular data quality activities,
ensuring accurate and timely SDP reports.
S/he will be required to maintain data confidentiality and integrity for project activities as directed.
