BUSINESS ANALYST

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organisation with the exclusively humanitarian mission to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening International Humanitarian Law and universal humanitarian principles. The ICRC's Regional Delegation in Nairobi co-ordinates the institution's humanitarian activities in Kenya, Tanzania and Djibouti.

Overall Responsibility

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has the ambition to build effective and efficient delivery systems through a Global Shared Services (GSS) model to enable the delivery of its strategy focused on beneficiaries and partners. As part of the Global Shared Services (GSS) Program, the incumbent will identify, analyse, evaluate, design, recommend and deliver processes to meet business goals, but also act as a facilitator and a coordinator to help the finance community to translate the need of change into process and organization model within a project methodology framework, i.e. delivering consistent, standardized business solution across the finance organization.

Tasks and responsibilities

· Conduct a high-level analysis of the accounting processes used by the Nairobi regional delegation on the first stage and other delegations in Africa and then more broadly;

· Analyse and map all details of current "As Is" processes, to understand scope of existing processes and systems, and identify opportunities to achieve optimization (simplification, standardization and digitalization);

· Identify the transactional or very technical processes which could be, optimized through 4 steps: simplification, standardization, automation, then delivered outside of the field in global or regional hubs;

· Analyse all required changes with the relevant stakeholders to be processed through these 4 steps of optimization;

· Actively involved in all Finance projects journeys for projects follow up, business needs analysis and description;

· Agree scope and time scales with the business users and other stakeholders and supporting functions, to achieve best possible match between operational needs and expected solutions to be delivered;

· Translates high-level business requirements into business processes, detailed requirements and detailed functional specifications, and specify components of solutions to support the delivery of user requirements right first time;

· Provide support for the implementation of new/changed processes and/or solutions to ensure outputs are delivered on time and quality;

· Proactively communicate all related changes and deliver necessary training to business users and management;

· Investigate and resolve user problems in order to minimize disruption to business continuity;

· Facilitate review meetings, document them and ensure best practice is applied;

· Identify and drive continued process enhancements and efficiencies in the requirements gathering and solution design processes to help meet productivity targets;

· Maintain functional peer relationships and detailed working knowledge of the assigned area's systems, organization and business processes.

Minimum Requirements and competencies

· University degree in finance/accounting, Business administration or Economics;

· Diploma in Accounting, CPA(K) or ACCA or equivalent qualification;

· Minimum 6 to 9 years’ experience in a business analyst role, or similar;

· Minimum 6 to 9 years’ solid functional or technical experience in delivering and supporting at least one of the following in a multi-organisation and multi-national environment: Processes description, Financial functions, Project management;

· Knowledge and understanding of general accounting and finance operations;

· Previous experience with facilitation and leading cross functional review meetings;

· Experience in business analysis in a financial and/or a shared services environment;

· Experience with Process Mapping;

· Experience in an international working environment;

· Experience of working on local and global initiatives;

· Excellent interpersonal skills and capacity for collaborative teamwork across disciplines;

· Certificate of good conduct.
