Kenton College is looking to fill position of Storekeeper.


The Storekeeper is responsible for coordinating stores operations with the highest degree of efficiency whilst ensuring optimal cost control. The Storekeeper is accountable to the Procurement Manager.


Duties and responsibilities include:



  • To ensure proper stocking of materials by using appropriate methods of care and preservation to avoid any damage and loss.

  • To ensure correctness in quality, quantity, specifications and condition of materials received from vendors.

  • To inspect deliveries for damage or discrepancies; report those to the procurement team for reimbursement and record keeping. Coordinate deliveries for returned items.

  • To ensure adequate record keeping and manage all documentation to confirm proper stock levels and maintain inventory control.

  • To stock materials received from vendors properly ensuring easy access, identification, verification, handling, maintenance etc.

  • To manage all goods in the stores and freezers, ensuring they are sufficient, safe, secure and in good condition and within validity periods

  • To establish economic order quantities to ensure optimal stocks quantities are maintained with no overstocking.

  • Proactively monitor and implement cost control measures by sourcing affordable, quality substitutes for products in use.

  • Embrace climate change initiatives by sourcing products that are recyclable, reusable and environment friendly.

  • To ensure smooth issue of materials to user departments.

  • To ensure compliance with health and safety standards in the stores and material storage procedures.

  • Daily stock monitoring and updating stock records online of all received and issued items to ensure proper control.

  • Liaise with user departments in preparing requisition lists for goods to be procured for timely replenishment of stocks, and forward to the Procurement team accordingly for their procurement.

  • Submitting weekly stock reports for procurement planning. Monthly reports to ensure the objective of the School is met to all required standards

  • Monitor expiry dates of goods stocked, timely disposal of dead/deteriorated stocks, periodic cleaning-out of non-moving, low value items from the stores.

  • To ensure termly stock take and proper reconciliation for audit.

  • In conjunction with the procurement team, manage supplier relations as well as maintain high ethical relationships with both internal and external customers.

  • To ensure that the store is kept clean and organized ensuring compliance with health and safety measures

Qualifications and Professional Experience



  • Certificate in storekeeping or other related qualification

  • At least 3 years work floor level and managerial experience.

  • Previous storekeeping experience in a school/educational institution is preferred but not essential.
