Would you like to be part of a work team committed to overcoming poverty through the building and delivery of effective and efficient Information Technology systems? If your answer is yes, then Oxfam GB is looking for someone like you for the position of IT Officer.
The IT Officer will be based at the Regional Management Centre in Nairobi. The position plays a key role in the day –to-day operations of the IT function, and requires you to provide IT related support within Nairobi offices
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Acting as the contact person within the Nairobi offices (RC, Kenya (including field offices), South Somalia, Pan Africa and Intermon) on all IT related issues.
- Effective data management in the server including disaster recovery that ensures data is backed up and restoration tested regularly to ensure business continuity.
- Support programmes in implementing and maintaining applications that assist them in their day to day work while ensuring that all software and hardware installed in the Nairobi offices conform to OGB IS policies e.g. Payroll, banking, cataloguing, FACTS, PeopleSoft and GOLD.
- Managing deployment of crucial systems upgrade. These include but not limited to MS patches, McAfee, IE patches and the relevant global settings and applications.
- Configuration of Hardware and setup according to the set global standards
- Ensuring the availability and reliability of the local electronic data and communication links with the sub office and corporate headquarters.
- Carrying out training and inductions to existing and incoming staff
- Managing contracts with external suppliers of goods & services where applicable
You will need to have the following key skills and competencies
- Professional training on computers, with knowledge on Local Area Networks, servers (basic hardware and software)
- Technically competent in area of specialisation and/or experience in IT workflows.
- High level of competence in development and implementation of computerised systems.
- Basic understanding of telephone PABX systems
- Excellent time management skills.
- Must be proactive and show initiative.
- Ensuring implementation of Oxfam’s Gender, Diversity and Equal Opportunities Policies, contribute to the development and sustenance of an organisational environment, which is gender and ethnic sensitive.
- Up-to-date knowledge and skills on latest developments in the IT systems field.
