APA Insurance Deputy Head of Claims / Claims Manager

APA Insurance Ltd is the leading insurance company in East Africa region.

We are seeking to recruit a result oriented individual to fill the above position in our General Division.

The successful candidate will work with senior management in planning and execution of efficient performance of the claims department.

The person will take over as Head of Claim and Legal in due course.

Key Tasks

* Facilitating expeditious handling and settlement of claims
* Negotiating for favourable claims settlement
* Ensuring reserves are adequate and regularly reviewed
* Aggressively pursuing recoveries and following to conclusion
* Review of the general claims service standards, procedures
* Ensuring that claims fall within scope of respective insurance policy
* Managing and vetting of an efficient and effective panel of service providers
* Preparing reports on business performance and analyzing them for management’s use and adoption.

Qualifications

* Bachelor degree in Commerce or Law or other related studies
* ACII or FCII qualifications
* At least 6 years experience at a senior level in relevant position

Skills

* A team player able to lead a diverse team
* Very good knowledge of insurance practices and product
* Experience in budgeting and strategic financial planning
* Ability to operate within a high pressured environment and engage at an executive level
* Be passionate about service delivery
* Be of high integrity
* Excellent communication, analytical and negotiation skis
* Commercial instinct and drive
* Problem solving and ability to make decisions.
