Wells Cost Accountant - Kenya

An independent oil and gas operating company require a WELLS COST ACCOUNTANT to be based in Kenya for a contract position (initially 6-12 months).

Job Purpose:

To maintain accurate well cost accounting records relating to the company’s operations in Kenya.

Duties:

1. Implement and maintain a complete Well Cost accounting procedure for the company’s well engineering operations in Kenya

2. Prepare daily and cumulative Well Cost estimates for the well Eng group. Ensure estimates are updated for actuals.

3. Prepare AFE versus Actual comparisons with variance reporting.

4. Provide VOWD accruals for the Finance group at month end.

5. Prepare Final cost estimates for completed wells and ensure timely close-out of AFEs.

6. Reconcile final costs estimates with General Ledger actuals.

7. Accurate coding of all invoices in accordance with Kenya coding definitions. Provide additional coding support and explanations if appropriate.

8. Contract compliance of all invoices.

9. Ensure that the company’s record keeping complies with TGL policy and that well cost files are of a sufficient standard to pass a cost recovery audit.

10. Final well reconciliations with EOWRs

11. Train and mentor local staff.

Person Specification:

A qualified accountant CIMA, ACCA, CA.
1. Detailed understanding of Inventory & Materials accounting.
2. Familiarity with management reporting requirements.
3. An understanding of accounting for well engineering operations.
4. Knowledge of Sun & Cendec an advantage.
The individual must have good written and verbal communication skills and be able to function in a diverse cultural environment.
