IBTCI COMPANY PROFILE

PROJECT SUMMARY
In FY 2014, IBTCI evaluated USAID/Somalia’s portfolio focused on stabilization, economic growth, education, youth empowerment and governance. In order to disseminate information about the progress and results of USAID’s progress with stakeholders, IBTCI is seeking a communications company based in Kenya to create and distribute communication/outreach material.
Key Personnel:
Photographer
The project requires original photography of activities. The company contracted should have access to an experienced professional photographer with experience in Somalia and with USAID projects that will:
· Use digital cameras, or digitize images taken on film
· In sensitive situations, get verbal written authorization from subjects—at least at the project level
· Document subjects
· Capture, on video, audio, or paper, direct quotes as testimonials
· Work with photo shop software to edit and catalogue these images.
The company contracted will also strive to ensure the following standards regarding the photographs to ensure that the communications have a recognizable look. To this extent the company must:
· Focus on positive aspects of USAID efforts
· Demonstrate “aid in action”
· Ensure relevance to the USAID story
· Avoid images that showcase despair
· Include other images that showcase Somalia’s landscape and culture
The photographer is required to spend a total of ten days in Somalia, in Somaliland, Mogadishu and South central Somalia.
Graphic Designer
The project requires original graphics and design of communication and outreach materials. The contracted company should have access to a professional level graphic designer that can work on a tight schedule with a quick turnaround to create products. The designer will:
· The designer will create attractive graphic designs and layouts, subject to IBTCI approval for various products including those listed in the deliverable section
· The materials will be in full color, and include striking graphics, photographs, and other visual elements
· Make the designed materials available on a disk in a user-friendly format, for use in a website or power point presentation.
· Upon approval of artwork, designer to liaise with contracted printer until delivery of finished product
The designer should be able to:
· ability to work in short time-frames;
· be creative;
· experience with USAID Graphics Manual desirable
· the ability to produce visually striking publications;
· proven experience in graphic design, including design and layout for similar materials;
· Deep familiarity with graphics, word processing and presentation software.
· experience using standard publishing programs such as Mac-based Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and QuarkXPress; and
· Extensive knowledge of Kenyan publishing industry.
· Must be based in Kenya
Deliverables
Aside from the products listed in the list of deliverables, the contracted company will be responsible, if not done in-house, for searching-out and providing a list to IBTCI of other Kenya-based companies for the following tasks:
Translation
The contracted company must be able to provide translation from English to Somali for text that will be provided by IBTCI for the various products.
Printing
The contracted company will need to ensure that all products are produced according to specifications approved by IBTCI.
Delivery
The contracted company will be responsible for ensuring that products are delivered to Hargeisa, Mogadishu, and Nairobi, as requested by IBTCI.
