Summary: Our client is a FMCG company looking for a Quality Manager.
Job Purpose: As a member of the management team, the Quality Manager is directly involved in the design and compilation of the company’s strategy and its resulting implementation, to achieve the short-, mid- and long-term objectives of the company within corporate guidelines.
He is responsible for maintaining and developing the quality system of the company according to internal, national as well as international standards.
As the Head of Team Process Improvement he is responsible for adopting new technologies for the company and to improve technical processes in terms of efficiency and quality.
Primary Responsibilities:
Quality Management
The job holder is responsible for the quality tests of all incoming materials, bulk products and finished goods according to legal requirements and internal corporate guidelines. He defines the test frequencies as the result of his evaluation of risk and economical efforts and further on decides about release or rejection of materials. These decisions have to be made in close contemporary connection to the production process which regularly requires risk based decisions without complete data available. In case of quality deviations he steers interdisciplinary corrective actions which often have an international scope because of close delivery schedules and service levels. He also develops and ensures procedures according to GMP and FDA regulations which are capable of successfully passing internal and external audits. He tracks and steers the success of the Quality System by monitoring failure costs and other process indicators. He aligns and adjusts his employees and the service hours with the production demands. The job holder is responsible for the continuous improvement of production processes and ensures a smooth transition of new products and technologies into the company. He actively supports the production groups in increasing their efficiency and in decreasing their production cost while maintaining the required quality level.Supply Chain Plan, Budget ResponsibilityThe incumbent has planning responsibility within the framework of corporate and local specifications and is responsible for the plan (investments and maintenance costs) to the Managing Director. The job holder ensures that the objectives approved in the Supply Chain Plan regarding budget, quality, and quantities are fully met. He comments on variances using the existing reporting system. He proposes counter measures and ensures their implementation. The incumbent is responsible for the timely preparation and passing on of monthly reports, quarterly and year-end statements.Export to affiliates and importsDue to the high percentage of exported products by the company (70 %) the job holder safeguards the compliance with international standards in order to meet the requirements of the International Production Network (IPN). Deviations are evaluated by the job holder contemporary to the release/reject decision and transformed into adequate corrective actions with international affiliates sometimes based on a risk assessment. This also applies to imports from the IPNThe job holder is responsible for the enforcement of BDF quality standards at subcontractors in case of so called ‘overspill production’. He decides about release and rejection of goods coming from overspill production suppliers.Release and rejection of drugs and coequal productsThe job holder is responsible for legal conforming tests and decisions of pharmaceutical drugs and coequal substances like Eucerinum anhydricum or OTC (FDA) products. This also includes respective documentation and filing.The job holder is responsible for the evaluation and development of suppliers by; auditing the quality systems of suppliers and evaluation and monitoring of the delivered quality.His decisions and evaluations are reported to corporate functions like Quality or Purchasing and influence the admission or rejection of suppliers.The job holder conducts and leads complex projects with subjects of quality and efficiency as well as organizational topics. Additionally he is member of varying interdisciplinary projects in the company or corporate functions also in an international environment.Audits by customers and authoritiesThe job holder is key contact for customers or national and international authorities for questions related to quality, quality systems and audits. He attends these audits and ensures a proper preparation and follow up. As the Quality Manager of the biggest company production centre his area of responsibility is often chosen as an exemplary place to audit the company in total (internationally).The job holder is responsible for the implementation of the current version of the cosmetics directive and other national and international guidelines. He is also responsible for a correct and solid documentation related to the manufacturer’s liability. As the representative of the biggest company production centre he also takes part in the development of the company’s Quality Management System by Corporate Quality Management Incl. QM-related IT-Systems (pilot system).The job holder contributes to the development and implementation of the company’s strategy. He is responsible for identifying areas of change, adapting and implementing change processes in his area of responsibility in line with the corporate approach. He manages his staff according to the company’s HR guidelines including annual Performance Reviews and Talent Reviews. He defines trainings and development measures (e.g. coaching) in line with the current and long term needs including occupational health and safety training.
