Maintenance Manager Job in Kenya




Maintenance Manager
 



Responsibilities: 


  • In charge of building maintenance operation, custodial care, room setups, fire and safety programs, and equipment inventory control. In small unions this position may be combined with that of business manager or assistant director for business or operations.

  • Preparation and execution of Maintenance and Project Plans

  • Assisting the purchases Department with technical aspects of mechanical work in procurement of the spares needed and Monitoring the stocks

  • Ensuring continuous availability of mechanical spare parts and materials

  • Resolving problems for various issues, including staff development and manpower requirements

  • Monitoring expenditures to meet requirements of minimal machine maintenance costs (Budget Management)

  • Helping in justification of technical modifications and assuring their compatibility with existing systems.

  • Carrying out feasibility studies for equipment upgrades and improvements

  • Preparing maintenance guidelines for mechanical equipment, including compressors, diesel engines, cranes, pneumatic and hydraulic valves, water and hydraulic pumps, heat exchangers, blanking presses, and furnaces

  • Generation of the weekly and monthly breakdown Maintenance and Project work reports.

  • Enforcing operation procedures as per ISO 9001: 2000 standards, auditing usage of spare parts, accordingly placing orders to ensure minimal turnaround time for critical repair work.

  • Enforcing obedience to safety regulations, reviewing safety manuals. Conducting monthly safety audits. 

  • Ensuring operational readiness of all safety and emergency equipment in the company.

  • Managing and liaising with contractors


Special Qualifications:


  • Ability to supervise a variety of personnel actions and direct a work force to ensure the facility is maintained in a clean and orderly manner. 

  • Appreciation of special needs of union users.

  • Flexibility to adjust to changing schedules. 

  • Some knowledge of techniques and crafts involved in preventive maintenance, housekeeping, and construction. 

  • Open to new ideas and adaptable to changing technology.


Experience: 


  • At least 5 years of successful supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing industry (Steel Mf)


Education: 


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business management is desirable although significant experience and special training may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
