HR Business Partner – Construction
Job Purpose: The HR Business Partner works with the Heads of Departments in Civil and Mechanics Department.
The main purpose is to ensure human resource efforts are fully aligned with business needs.
Responsible for human resources support, including recruitment, performance management, coaching, talent management, compliance, disciplinary, terminations and grievance handling.
Is also responsible for ensuring strong established relations with communities in which the company operates.
Key Responsibilities
- Monthly Site visits to supervise HR activities in projects
- Hold monthly meetings with local leaders as a community liaison
- Hold weekly meetings with departmental and section heads
- Weekly and monthly reporting
- Design and implement staff budget for civil and mechanics department
- Recruit, manage and supervise all staff working in Civil and mechanics department
- Prepare monthly salary bill for civil and mechanics department
- Conduct training on policies and procedures to staff in civil and mechanics department
- Supervise disciplinary and grievances in the departments
- Supervise bi-annual performance appraisals for staff in civil and mechanics department
- Conduct skills assessment and training gaps for staff in civil and mechanics department
- Maintain an updated departmental annual manpower plan and budget for Civil & Mechanics
- Ensure all roles have job descriptions and have been evaluated
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to staff in civil and mechanics department
- Design and implement an annual training plan for staff in civil and mechanics department
- Design and implement a career path and succession plan program for staff in civil and mechanics department
- Oversee the implementation of all employee welfare programs and events in the staff in civil and mechanics department
- Ensure all records related to this role are maintained, updated and compliant
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Job Requirements
- Degree in Human Resources Management or Organizational Development
- Seven (7) years progressive experience in HR including significant experience in BU lead/client service support role; Construction industry experience preferred
- Advanced Diploma in Business Administration
- Coaching or leadership training
Knowledge or Expertise
- Design and implementation of HR policies, procedures and HR SLAs
- National legislation guiding employees and work environments
- Design and implementation talent acquisition processes
- Handling grievance and disciplinary processes
- Design and implementation of talent management processes
- Implementation of performance management process
- Project management
- Deliver reports using relevant HR matrices
