Fleet Manager Job in Kenya




Vacancy: Fleet Manager



Job Purpose: To manage the Company’s fleet of vehicles in the most efficient, cost effective and quality  manner so as to attain highest safety and realize the strategic objectives of the company. 



You will use your strong leadership, influencing skills, and understanding of the PCV industry to drive forward the team and implement any changes to ensure the success of our business




Key Responsibilities


  • To plan and schedule vehicle fleet movements on daily basis to meet production and administrative needs within budget.

  • Implement fleet safety programme to achieve set targets

  • Ensure all company fleet of vehicles are compliant with all regulations

  • Provide timely rescue and security to all company fleets.

  • Identify training needs of all vehicle drivers and operators and cause it to be implemented.

  • Develop and enforce the application of company motor vehicle operation manuals.

  • Conduct security risk assessment and provide written plan for each site to mitigate on known risks.

  • Detect and eliminate all frauds, diversion, kiting, and sabotage of company property

  • Deal with all aspects of the company’s obligations to the Department of Transport including vehicle annual tests, record keeping and fleet inspections

  • Advise the Directors on vehicle replacement and purchasing policies, displaying a sound knowledge of new vehicle types and vehicle related products.

  • In liaison with the state police, secure prosecution of all those that commit criminal offences.

  • Provide timely reports on transport and security to approved recipients

  • Exercise Occupational Safety and Health responsibility as detailed in the “OSH Policy and associated procedures and guidelines


Job Requirements


  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Logistics

  • Diploma in fleet or transport management

  • Class BCE Driving license.

  • Minimum experience of 5 years in a fleet management


Knowledge & Expertise


  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Fleet Management.

  • Proven experience and ability to manage a mechanical workshop.

  • Extensive experience in budget preparation, control and monitoring.

  • Well-developed experience in tender preparation and evaluation.

  • Well-developed report and policy writing skills

  • Experience in the use of UniFleet Management software.

  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels in line with our core values

  • People Management – Ability to coach, mentor and drive through success


Key Skills


  • Well-developed computer skills.

  • Well-developed supervisory skills

  • Tertiary qualifications in Fleet Management

  • Ability to solve problem and have a proactive approach

  • Time Management – Ability to organize and plan workloads

  • Change management
