Kenya Maritime Authority Public Relations Assistant Job in Mombasa

Kenya Maritime Authority is a State Corporation whose mandate is to

regulate, coordinate and oversee maritime affairs guided by the Kenya

Maritime Act, No. 5 of 2006 and the Merchant Shipping Act 2009. 

The Authority wishes to invite suitable candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Public Relations Assistant 

(KMA 6)

Section: Public Relations
 

Report To: Public Relations and Customer Service Officer
 

 

Supervision: N/A
 

Location / Region: KMA Head Office, Mombasa
 

Purpose: Responsible for maintain public relations and customer service databases and maintaining mailing list of all stakeholders. 

Also responsible for providing support to the Public Relations and Customer Service Officer in developing and promoting KMA products and services.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Maintaining data base and mailing list of all stake holders


• Prepare public relations material to be used in various departmental events e.g. press release, publication manuals, promotional materials, introductory speeches etc as necessary


• Maintaining media data base


• Monitoring the press on KMA related items and


• Update the authority website

Person Specifications:
 

Academic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, mass communications or social sciences

Professional Qualifications
 

Experience

• 3 years’ experience in media/practiced journalism and


• Knowledge of desktop publishing

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills


• Excellent organization skills and highly confidential


• Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications


• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
