Kenya Maritime Authority Registration of Ships Assistant Job in Mombasa

Kenya Maritime Authority is a State Corporation whose mandate is to

regulate, coordinate and oversee maritime affairs guided by the Kenya

Maritime Act, No. 5 of 2006 and the Merchant Shipping Act 2009. 

The Authority wishes to invite suitable candidates to fill the following vacant position:

Registration of Ships Assistant 

(KMAG 5)

Department: Ships and Seafarers Registration
 

Section: Sea Farers Registration
 

Reports To: Registration of Ships Officer
 

 

Supervision: N/A
 

Location / Region: KMA Head Office, Mombasa
 

Purpose: Responsible for planning and implementing certification of ships and issuing ships with registration documents.
 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that documents required for ship registration are available;


• Assisting in the compiling documentation required for ship registration; and


• Ensuring that correct data is captured and updated in the ships registrar

Person Specifications:
 

Academic Qualifications

• Class I certificate of competency STCW 78 (marine engineer or deck officer); and


• Basic degree from a recognized institution.

Professional Qualifications

• Maritime education and training or qualification

Experience

• 3 years’ experience as a master or chief engineer

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal, management and communication skills;


• Excellent organizational skills and highly confidential;


• Computer literacy and familiarity with standard office computer applications


• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
