Vacancy: Managing Director
Job Summary: Kericho Water & Sanitation Company Limited (KEWASCO) is a Private Company established under the company’s Act CAP 486, Laws of Kenya and is wholly owned by the County Government of Kericho.
Incorporated in October 1997, they have been contracted by Lake Victoria South Water Services Board to provide Water & Sanitation services within Kericho County.
This is through a Service Provision Agreement (SPA).
To drive the vision and mission of the organization, they seek a visionary customer centric and results-oriented, technologically savvy and experienced individual to fill the position of Managing Director, a leader of the Core Management Team.
Reporting to a Board of Directors, the Managing Director will be responsible for ensuring the company delivers on its mandate while remaining sustainable and operating efficiently.
In addition to the Board of Directors’ support, he/ she will have a team of young professional and dynamic professionals to help them deliver this mandate.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and leadership in the planning, organizing and administering Company affairs and organisational development/structuring
- Lead the development of the Corporate Strategic Plan and annual business plans within the broad policy directive of the board.
- Prepare and recommend to the Board of Directors for approval, the annual operating and capital budgets based on the corporate strategy and annual business plans
- Provide effective and efficient team leadership and management by providing technical guidance, managing performance and discipline, reward and recognition as well as coaching and mentoring.
- Represent the Company at national and international stakeholder forums including government bodies, donors and the community with the aim of aligning service delivery.
- Assess community needs and ensure effective development and implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility programs.
- Respond to citizens’ concerns/issues and determine appropriate resolutions to maintain positive company and customer relations.
- Provide Strategic Leadership in the on-going Clustering Process of KEWASCO & TILWASCO
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil or Water or Environmental or Biosystems), Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or any other related Degree from a recognized University.
- A Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field from a recognized University is desirable and experience in Utility Management is an advantage.
- Must be a registered member of relevant professional body.
- Ten (10) years progressive and relevant work experience, five (5) of which must be at Senior Management Level in an Organization serving a large and demanding public
- Familiarity with the reform programs in commercial and public settings and demonstrable thorough understanding the National Goals, Policies and Development Objectives including the Kenya Vision 2030
- Track record of creativity, innovation, self-drive, result orientation and ability to handle a sensitive public.
- Exceptional relationship management skills with capacity to engage with local, regional and international donors, partners and organizations.
- Leadership and management capacity including knowledge of Financial Management and Strategic people management
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational and team management capacity, and high professional ethical standing.
- Compliance with Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. Submit Clearance Certificates from:
- Ethics and Anticorruption Commission (EACC);
- Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
- Credit Reference Bureau (CRB);
- Criminal Investigations Department (CID);
- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA);
Terms of Service: The successful candidate will be offered a 5-Year Renewable Contract based on satisfactory performance.
