Short introduction
The FP/RH Advisor will support increasing CPR and ensure contraceptive commodity security in coordination with other stakeholders. Activities will expand access to a wide variety of modern contraceptive methods, including long acting and permanent contraceptive methods, and will ensure that family planning is an integral part of post abortion care in the target sub-counties of Turkana or Samburu. Travel to Nairobi, Turkana and Samburu will be required.
Responsibilities
· Supporting the design and implementation of innovative outreach and mobile service delivery approaches that will address the nomadic and migratory nature of the populations.
· Supporting the design of age appropriate youth-friendly services targeting youth in school, sexually active young women, and young uneducated and young married women ages 15-24 years.
· Strengthening public-private sector partnerships to ensure quality and affordable services through the private sector.
· Strengthening opportunities for integrating family planning information and/or services into other health and non-health sector activities.
Person specification
· A clinical background (Bachelor’s Degree in medicine, nursing, or related field with hands on clinical experience)
· At least three years demonstrated experience in implementing family planning and reproductive health activities in Kenya, preferably with experience in Turkana or Samburu. Experience working with government or donor funded programs will be an advantage.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with government representatives, for-profit private sector entities, local community organizations, donors and other stakeholders, particularly at the sub-national level, including demonstrated experience in building capacity or providing training for delivery of quality health services.
· Experience in monitoring FP/RH activities for routine tracking and reporting.
· Strong oral and written communication skills.
· Fluent in English and Swahili in reading, speaking and writing.
