POSITION: Senior Manager – Marketing and Corporate Affairs


LOCATION: Nairobi


Our client, a microfinance bank is looking to fill the position of a Senior Manager – Marketing and Corporate Affairs.


JOB PURPOSE


The successful candidate will work closely with the business heads to oversee Corporate affairs, brand and marketing for the Bank.


Responsibilities


Strategy



  • Determine the Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing strategies for the Bank working closely with the business heads while ensuring alignment with the Banks’ strategy

  • Contribute to overall Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing visions/priorities

  • Work with the functions’ heads to manage and implement key projects and strategy changes across the Bank


Business



  • Lead the team to develop plans for Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing disciplines, deliver quality activities to drive exceptional client and corporate level experience, backed up by well design actionable metrics that are used for future decision making.

  • Deliver quality activities to drive exceptional client experiences – on plan, on budget and on time.

  • Drive digital strategy and effective use of digital platforms across the Bank through marketing initiatives.

  • Provide direction on leveraging research insights to develop Customer Value Propositions and Thought Leadership positions to the Management Teams, integrating them into Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing plans

  • Integrate the Brand strategy into the overall business strategy of the Bank working across Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing platforms, such as internal and external communication.

  • Be a Brand Champion – ensure all segment and product campaigns live up to our Brand promise while, at the same time, delivering committed business outcomes

  • Craft strategies for all marketing teams, including digital, advertising, communications and creative.

  • Prepare and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets for the Marketing department

  • Set, monitor, and report on team goals

  • Design branding, positioning, and pricing strategies

  • Ensure our brand message is strong and consistent across all channels and marketing efforts (like events, email campaigns, web pages and promotional material)

  • Analyze consumer behavior and determine customer personas

  • Identify opportunities to reach new market segments and expand market share

  • Drive brand awareness and achieve targeted metric levels for the Bank

  • Develop an agile Customer Relationship Management System

  • Review products mix an undertake product rationalization

  • Develop Customer segments and customized products

  • Undertake customer education on product range

  • Introduce automation of marketing and customer communication


Processes



  • Manage Operational Risk standards for the Corporate Affairs and Brand and Marketing teams.

  • Build in best practices to allow for solutions that are in line with the Brand and Marketing strategy.

  • Proactively manage advertising and media agencies.

  • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend ways to increase functional effectiveness and improve operational efficiencies


People Management



  • To provide leadership, direction to the rest of the marketing and customer experience teams.

  • To build, develop and motivate the rest of the team by providing mentorship to the team in order to achieve the strategy.

  • To identify training gaps and recommend on required training interventions for the team

  • Assess and measure the team’s activities to ensure alignment with plans, forecasts, and capacity models.


Risk Management



  • Provide leadership around Risk Management, both reputational and operational to ensure they are proactively identified and mitigated all issues are timely reported/escalated in line with Bank’s policies and procedures

  • Provide leadership and co-ordination of issues and crisis communications to the Bank network


 Governance



  • Accountability for the Corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing budgets and scorecards.

  • Ensure adherence to the Risk Management Framework, Code of Conduct and various Policies, Procedures and Guidelines of the Bank.

  • For Corporate Affairs, be Reputation Risk Control representative, enforcing the associated policies and procedures across the Bank


Qualifications



  • BSc or MSc in Marketing or relevant field

  • ICM certification is desirable

  • 10 years’ work experience, 5 of which must be in managing preferably within the financial sector

  • Experience running successful marketing campaigns

  • Experience with CRM software
