Reuters is seeking an experienced, multi-skilled video journalist to join the Africa Daily production team in Nairobi and play a key role coordinating intake/output with an external Africa Journal production team in addition to editing and scripting stories delivered from other African bureaus and shooting and producing local stories.
The successful candidate will have an exciting opportunity to join a team of driven, quality-conscious journalists whose unique product is already setting benchmarks for Africa video coverage and helping drive the Reuters multimedia file across the continent.
S/he will be expected to coordinate effectively with regional staff and stringers producing stories for Africa Daily and Africa Journal. The role demands good communication skills, as well as patience, tact and diplomacy.
A thorough knowledge of the politics, geography and diverse cultures of the African continent is essential. .

- Proven experience at seeing a story through from conception to broadcast - includes pitching, producing, filming, editing and scripting.
- Experience on a regional desk/ working in a team with regional responsibility and commissioning stories across a region.
- Strong organizational, production and video editing skills (preferably, experience using Edius software
- Strong writing skills
- Sound news judgment
- Ability to work with a small team, communicating across a diverse group (georgraphically and culturally) of contributors.
- High stress tolerance and willingness to work long hours, including weekends.
