Our client is a global group of energy and petrochemical companies. Employing over 100,000 personnel in around 90 countries their strategy is to reinforce their position as a leader in the Oil & Gas industry.

They are currently recruiting for the position of Principal Static Mechanical, based in Nigeria.

Job Description

Functioning as Mechanical Static Lead Engineer in one or more teams handling multiple projects and producing asset responsibilities.Create demonstrable value for customers by understanding their drivers and critical success factors.Provide effective interfaces and relationships within/between disciplines, and peers in other P & T teams.Execute, with assigned resources, technical work for FEED and Detailed Designs (designs, specifications, drawings, etc.) and Operations Support within designated CTR scopes.Ensure own discipline engineering and design work successfully delivered and appropriate reviews conducted.Carry out appropriate discipline and inter discipline checks and reviews of engineering and design work.Contribute to the development of execution contracting strategies that compliment designs, construction methods and operating methods.Remain engaged in design issues and decisions throughout construction, commissioning and start-up.Capture/apply internal and external learning, including HSE improvements.Deliver continuously improving performance, benchmarked as top tier in the industry.Ensure the quality of technical work and the technical integrity, constructability, functionality, safe operation and reliability of designs.Contribute to excellent HSE performance throughout the engineering phase of the project life cycleLead or participate in relationships with various industry groups and external suppliers.

Skills & Experience

A Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. Professional/Chartered engineer qualification preferred. Experience in Maintenance and operations of an Upstream facility are desirable.A good understanding of Industry, DEPs and Shell Design Standards with the ability to challenge standards and current engineering practicesDemonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team as well and to work independently with a minimum of supervision. Working knowledge of the static engineering modeling packagesA strong commitment and demonstrable effectiveness in HSSE management is essential.Demonstrated evidence of Enterprise first values and behaviours will be taken into account during the selection process.Ability to deal with multiple, often conflicting, goals and prioritiesStrong interpersonal skills - able to influence and develop relationships across disciplines and culture, be comfortable coaching and motivating others, and delivering through others.Familiar with project development challenges in Nigeria or in other regions with similar challenges.Excellent communication skills.Skillful at leading through influence.Values and is open to listening to stakeholders perspectives, maintain composure under pressure while providing clear and decisive leadership.

This is a contract position.

The rate for this position is negotiable.
