Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) is a State Corporation, established under the Science and Technology Act, Chapter 250 of 1979, and operates under the Ministry of Industrialization. Its mandate is to carry out Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI) in industrial and allied technologies. The institute is expected to play a leading role in supporting the industrialization process in line with Vision 2030.
To achieve the above mandate, the Institute is seeking to recruit suitable, self-driven, result oriented, highly motivated and qualified personnel, to fill the following vacant positions:
1 Deputy Director, Finance, Human Resource And Administration (DD - F, HR & ADM) :

Reporting to the Director, the specific duties and responsibilities of the Deputy Director, Finance, Human Resources and Administration will involve:Coordinating the operations of Finance, Human Resource and AdministrationFormulation of human resource management and finance policies/functions and implementation of the samePreparation of corporate budgetOverseeing implementation of human resource management and finance policies and strategiesSetting up an effective accounting system following the prevailing Government accounting proceduresManaging and monitoring the institutes’ expenditure; and monitoring the institute’s payroll and staff establishment among other Human Resource/Finance and Administrative duties.

Reporting to the Director, the Assistant Director, Resource Mobilization, will be responsible for:Developing a resource mobilization policy and strategyIdentifying research potential and funding opportunitiesPlanning and implementing research projects and other activities of the institute to attract fundingInitiating and developing consultancy servicesOrganizing seminars/short courses on Resource Mobilization related activitiesLiaising with the researchers for identifying research problems/gaps and disseminating research findingsEstablishing strategic partnerships and networksCarrying out any other duties that may be assigned
For appointment as the Assistant Director, Resource Mobilization, one must have:-Seven (7) years’ experience in Resource Mobilization, three (3) of which must be in a senior positionMasters of Science/Education in Applied Science/Masters of Business Administration in Entrepreneurship/Project Management/Masters of Arts – Economics or its equivalent from a recognized InstitutionPost graduate Diploma in Strategic/Project Management from a recognized institutionA Strategic Management course lasting not less than six (6) weeks from a recognized Institution, andComputer Application skills.3 Chief /Senior Principal/Principal/Research Scientists

3.1 Chief Research Scientist (CRS):

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI), the duties and responsibilities as a Chief Research Scientist will include:Spearheading the formulation of the Institute’s and national research/scientific policies and strategiesPlanning and implementation of national industrial research agenda.Initiating collaborative research and linkages with other institutions; and leading research teams in developing innovative productsCarrying out collaborative research with industry and other relevant InstitutionsEvaluation and authentication of research projects for approvalPreparation of reports and technical/scientific publicationsEnforcing safe and healthy working procedures to ensure safety at workplace.Enforcing control measures and ethical practices to comply with the Anti-Corruption Act and other statutory requirementsProviding professional leadership and mentoring of research scientists in their area of specializationSupervision of the Institute’s scientists undertaking further studies; andCarrying out any other duties that may be assigned.
