MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
• To coordinate and control production activities on the farm
• To provide leadership in harvesting and packing flowers for export
• Maintain irrigation, crop protection, post-harvest procedures, maintenance of farm infrastructure and staff management
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
• Reports to the Managing Director
• Liaises with General Manager
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Harvesting and packing flowers for the export market.
• Supervising field work; all production activities including new crop establishment, general crop husbandry, crop protection, feeding and pest control.
• Coordination of the maintenance of the farm infrastructure and staff management
• Participating in production enhancement and plant growth regulation
• Preparing weekly production reports in liaison with the General Manager
• Accounting for all flower produce on the farm
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for a dynamic, organized, hardworking, responsible and adaptable
person who has the following skills and qualifications:
• Diploma in Horticulture or Agronomy
• Interest in working on a flower farm
• 2 - 3 years relevant experience as a production manager
• Post harvest experience including harvesting , cooling, grading and shipping of products
• Must be an effective leader, team-builder and manager, with the ability to motivate staff and evaluate performance
• Experience in producing for direct market will have an added advantage
• Good physical condition
• Ability to work well with others and hit the ground running
• Written and verbal communication skills
• Must be computer literate. Use of accounting software will have an added advantage
