Commercial & Business Development Manager
NGO Commercial Manager Job Purpose
To be able to attract and manage partnerships/sponsorships/contract assignments. Also well be able to manage established businesses as well as driving and guiding businesses (in the accelerator program) towards commercial success.
Commercial Manager Responsibilities
Winning new partnerships/ assignment contracts for the organization.
Negotiating and signing agreements on contracts/project and Partnerships while seeking to increase revenue for the organization.
Develop proposals for the commercialization of successful ideas from Nailab’s internal innovation department
Guide the managers of the Nailab owned businesses while maximizing revenue (revenue per business).
Interfacing with Incubation Manager, Chief Innovation Officer, and Marketing & PR manager for success of the businesses in the accelerator program as well as established ones.
Forging partnership with governments (National and County) as well as companies and NGOs seeking to outsource or procure entrepreneurship development and incubation services .
Developing and selling new products and services for Nailab that are in line with the organization strategy and vision.
Business Development Manager Responsibilities
As a Business Development Manager work to improve Nailab’s market position while achieving financial growth.
You will define long-term organizational strategic goals, builds key customer/partner/donor relationships, identify business opportunities, negotiates and closes business deals and maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions and trends.
Liaise with the internal team (Incubation Manager, Chief Innovation Officer, and Marketing & PR manager and other managers) to increase opportunities for partnerships/sponsorships and thereby maximize revenue for the organization.
Find potential new customers/partners/donors, present to them, ultimately convert them into Nailabs clients, and continue to grow business in the future.
Manage existing clients and ensure they stay satisfied and positive.
Ability to put together proposals bids or responding to relevant tenders for new assignments/projects/contracts etc.
Exploring new avenues of activity and seeking opportunities that the company can exploit in its bid to develop and grow.
Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services, products, and reach channels.
Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Identify opportunities for campaigns, assignments & services, and relevant channels that will lead to an increased Nailabs reach.
Key Skills Required
Proactive, self-starter with strong commercial acumen
Proven track record of meeting and exceeding targets and managing the sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals
Exceeding targets of more than 1 million USD per year
Experience of influencing senior management
Leadership qualities – ability to lead and deliver results in a highly motivated, demanding environment.
Able to quickly engender the confidence of business leaders and project managers
Sharp, action orientated and able to sell ideas convincingly.
Strong analytical skills with proven ability in interpreting performance trends and taking proactive action.
Identification of customer needs and challenges.
Motivation for selling Nailabs, Prospecting skills, Commercial Planning.
Networking, Persuasion, Prospecting and Public Speaking.
Education & Experience for Commercial Manager Jobs in Kenya
A Bachelor’s degree and 4-5 years of sales or marketing experience.
