NGO Incubation Manager Job Responsibilities

Ensures the success of the organization’s commitment to supporting economic development by facilitating entrepreneurship and small business development.

Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the business incubator facility, including marketing the facility, recruiting potential tenants, and assisting in screening potential clients and making recommendations.

Planning and developing the incubator budget.

Develops and executes effective outreach strategies to recruit incubator tenants by providing excellent coaching, consulting, and connections to help incubator clients’ businesses grow.

Manages the business incubator programs and also identifies problem areas within clients. Able to conduct business counseling with incubator clients on an individual basis.

Effectively provides leadership and supervision to staff including mentors, coaches, advisors and volunteers.

Supervision includes training, work assignment and review and performance evaluation.

Analyzes and maintains an awareness of trends within business incubation as a discipline, and where appropriate, making changes (or as appropriate, recommending changes to the organization) in the nature of the services and facilities offered by the program to its clients.

Maintains and deepens relationships with current and future funders, including government agencies, multi-lateral agencies in the development and implementation of a successful, diverse fundraising strategy that increases support from foundations, corporate sponsors and donors, and individuals.

Develops and implements policies governing the operation of the incubator facility and coordinate facility upkeep and ensure the facility is maintained and presentable to the tenants and public at large. Assists in coordinating incubator facility operations with Nailabs’ maintenance, custodial, security and public safety staff.

Develops and maintains a client database, prepares periodic reports, and maintains records of projects, progress, and the status of the incubator.

Assists in identifying potential funding sources for the operation of the incubator and expansion opportunities.

Contributing to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other diverse backgrounds.

Remains competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as directed.
Education for Incubation Manager Jobs in Kenya

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance.


Experience


Minimum of 5 years of management experience in business or industry and/or business, workforce, economic and/or training development programs.

2 of the 5 management years must be directly related to the marketing, development and/or management of programs to serve the development needs of small business.

3 of the 5 years must be experience owning and/or operating a small business including financial planning, marketing, accounting, system analysis, personnel management and/or providing business development, coaching and/or consulting services to small businesses.


Skills


Strong oral and written communication skills.

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills,

Good business judgment, market research, financial modeling and analytical skills.

Must be familiar with business models and value chains, and have a proven ability to analyze market opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies and plans.

Practical application of business operations, including finance, operating control systems, human resource management, customer service, marketing, public relations and governmental regulations; principles and practices of business ownership; current trends in business organization and management, including the economics and needs of the local small business community.

The ability to work collaboratively with a variety of constituents and organizations is required. The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of diverse backgrounds is required.
