Job Title: Quality Control Supervisor
Reporting to: SHEQ Manager
Liaisons: Production Manager /Plant Productivity Manager
Position Function: In liaison with Production, SHEQ and Plant Productivity Managers, monitor the quality of raw materials and imported products and ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
Key Duties and responsibilities
- Undertake quality inspection of raw materials, in-process and finished products as directed.
- Monitor new and changed products and production methods with regard to quality.
- Ensure that inspection and test equipment is checked and calibrated.
- In liaison with SHEQ and Production Manager, monitor quality system and quality plans that are appropriate in the Company’s product range giving due consideration to customer requirements.
- Ensure performance improvement targets for quality, service, and efficiency is constantly monitored and any deviations reported to management.
- Perform quality audits and analyse data relating to quality with a view to initiating measures relating to this and following up the effect of these measures.
- Document workflow/ procedures for all departments.
- Under the supervision of the SHEQ and Production Managers, assist in ISO internal audits including scheduling and coordinating internal audits and annual audits as required.
- Assist with ISO System training at all levels of the Company.
- Monitor, support, and continually improve the QMS procedures and documentation.
- Assist in Investigating and solving customers’ problems, which may be complex or long-standing problems that have been passed on by customer service assistants, sales executives or top management.
- Under the supervision of the SHEQ and Production Managers, ensure that non-conforming products are not processed further at any given stage of the production process.
- Ensure that all operational and quality related licenses are renewed on time.
Required Competencies
- Minimum Certificate in Chemical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar capacity in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a printing industry.
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety and Quality management process
- Excellent knowledge of ISO Standards certification process and audits
- Demonstrated forward planning ability.
- Capable of making sound decisions.
- Leadership, analytical and communication skills.
- Requisite knowledge of basic computer packages.
- Excellent communication skills in English and Kiswahili (both written and oral).
- Excellent report writing skills.
