Our client is looking for 4 experienced Generator Technicians to fill a vacant
opening in the company.
Job Summary: To perform
maintenance, installation, service and repair to a varied range of generating
sets, diesel generator control systems and associated equipment including
turbochargers and fuel injection equipment located at various client site
locations
Duties
and Responsibilities;
- Develop
and maintain a generator maintenance program/plan for all field sites in
line with set vehicle / machine operational guidelines. - Carry
out fault diagnosis, repair and perform general maintenance on all
generator equipment and adjustments of engines, hydraulics, electrical
systems and installations. - Troubleshoot
equipment and service generator components including alternators, wiring
harnesses safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems. - Inspect
and test generators to ensure safety, report irregularities and equipment
abuse to the Workshop Manager for further management. - Ensure
sufficient fuel and oil in the generator at all times - Prepare
annual generator equipment inventory reports in line with reporting
guidelines. - Prepare
and submit generator repair/maintenance monthly reports. - Compile
spares or materials lists for work assigned to ensure adequate hand tools
are provided to carry out duties - Communicate
all issues/incidents and risks to Management to allow adequate
investigation and resolution in line with Health and Safety Guidelines. - Carry
out weekly, monthly and quarterly site visits as and when requested by
stakeholders through the Workshop Manager, in line with company
guidelines. - Perform
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies required;
- Certificate
in Mechanics/Electrical Engineering; or Certificate in Generator
Maintenance, Fault Diagnosis and Trouble Shooting, Certificate in
Mechanical Installations or related qualifications from a recognized
university or Vocational Technical Training Institute. - At
least 5 years practical Generator experience in a similar role - Practical
experience in diagnosing and repairing Electrical faults in Generators - Experience
in Mechanical Engineering would be an added advantage - Excellent
Analytical skills - Computer
skills in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet usage - Ability
to work independently and in a team - Good
communication, interpersonal and time management skills; - Proactive,
confident, energetic and ability to work under pressure; - Willingness
to travel when necessary and required
