Job Vacancy: Isiolo Business Development
Specialist
Summary:
ACDI /
VOCA is currently implementing the five-year USAID funded Resilience and
Economic Growth in the Arid Lands – Accelerated Growth (REGAL-AG) program in
Isiolo and Marsabit Counties.
The
program aims to strengthen the livestock value chain through investing in
livestock related businesses through the provision of business development
grants.
Further
investments are being made by constructing livestock market infrastructure and
strengthening the livestock value chain through trainings and analysis of best
practices.
Over the next 14 months, ACDI/VOCA will support 22 businesses and 12 livestock
markets in Isiolo and Marsabit Counties through the provision of business
development grants.
In
order to successfully implement the program, a business development specialist
will work closely with selected business and markets to develop project
applications, business plans, and provide business advisory services throughout
the first year of grant activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The business development specialist will provide technical assistance and
coaching to selected applicants under the business development grants program,
which mainly consists of micro, small and medium sized enterprises
(MSME’s).
Technical
assistance to be provided will be in the preparation of business plans,
marketing and business development strategies.
The
specialist will also work closely establishing good management and business
practices at our newly constructed livestock markets.
For
all the above activities, there will be significant data collection which will
allow for accurate measurement of project impact.
Education & Experience Requirements
- At
least a Bachelor’s Degree in Entrepreneurship and/or Business Management.
Preferably with Master’s Degree in any of these fields. - At
least 5 years’ professional experience in developing business plans,
conducting economic and/or financial analysis or other relevant areas. - Experience
in livestock value chain and MSME development, and similar fields will be
an added advantage. - Strong
writing, analytical, presentation and reporting skills. - Willing
to travel and work in Isiolo or Marsabit.
