Scholarships
Background: Moi University
was awarded the University Research Chair for Health Systems in March 2015
under the sponsorship of National Council for Science Technology and innovation
(NACOSTI) and Canadian International Centre for research and Development
(IDRC).
The
award on Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health (MNCH) runs over a 5 year period
2014 – 2019 and it includes six objectives one of which is capacity building in
Health Systems.
Goal of URCP for Health systems: To
contribute to improvement of maternal and child health in Kenya through health
system strengthening initiatives at community and primary care levels
In
this regard the University Research Chair Program (URCP) wishes to announce
training sponsorship for MMed, MPH, MSc and PhD candidates that will conduct
research in the area of MNCH health systems management.
The
PhD or Master program can be taken in any University.
The
thesis or project must be done in the sites and Counties in Kenya where the
University Research Chair Program (URCP) for Health systems is currently
engaged.
The application should include an application letter, an updated CV, copies of
certificates and testimonials and a copy of the national ID.
Details of contact information should be included in the application.
There will be two (2) scholarships for Master programs and one (1) for PhD
programs in 2016/2017 financial year of the URCP.
Applicants must present a concept relevant to the URCP goal together with the
application that should include:
- Background
– half page (font 11 single spacing,) - Specific
aims – half page - Significance
– half page - Approach
(design and methods) – 2 to 3 pages
Thesis: The sites for the
thesis project implementation shall be in any one or more of the following:
Nyaru Location in Chepkorio, Elgeyo Marakwet county; Chesunet, Kesses location
in Uasin Gishu County; Kiminini in Kiminini location Trans Nzoia County; Kabula
location in Bungoma County; Nyaporo Location in Kakamega County and Obekai,
Kaliwa location in Busia County.
The thesis should include any one of the health system areas below or a
combination of these to address the health systems and service provision in
Kenya in communities and primary care facilities for maternal, neonatal and
child health care services.
