Plan International Kenya together with Ananda Marga Universal Relief Team
(AMURT) are implementing a five-year project (2016 – 2020), Young Health
Programme (YHP), in the urban informal settlement of Kibera, in Nairobi County,
Kenya.
The
project aims to contribute to improved health and gender equality of girls and
boys between 10-24 years of age in Kibera, Nairobi.
The
programme is to contribute to improved health and gender equality of girls and
boys between 10-24 years of age in Kibera, Nairobi.
Specifically,
it aims to achieve this by ensuring that adolescent girls and boys in the urban
slum of Kibera, Nairobi are practising fewer risky behaviours due to an
increased capacity to make informed choices and to protect their health, now and
in the future.
Specifically, the YHP will focus on 5 risk behaviours which significantly
increase the likelihood of developing NCDs later in life, which are

harmful use of alcohol;
3)
risky sexual behaviours;
4)
physical inactivity; and
Plan
International Kenya is seeking for qualified research firms to undertake a
formative study for the project
1.1. Objectives of the Formative Study
The
specific objectives of the formative study are:
1.
To understand the drivers for each of the 5 Risk Behaviours
among young people (10-24 years) in Kibera.
2.
To understand the barriers for each of the 5 Risk Behaviours
among young people (10-24 years) in Kibera.
3.
To provide recommendations for effective communication strategies
that are relevant to reaching young people in these communities
4.
To provide top line recommendations for BCC messaging to be used
by Peer Educators and in other activities.

are able to provide deliverables in line with the required timeframe are
