Biblia Sacco Society Ltd, a medium-sized Sacco with membership from a large number of Christian organizations wishes to recruit a Credit Officer.
Reporting: The position reports to the CEO
Purpose
To carry out financial activities relating to customers loans & reports in accordance with policies and procedures and supervise the work of loans officers and clerks.
Credit Officer Job Responsibilities
- Ensuring an effective and efficient system of receiving, recording and appraising members’ loans and advances.
- Appraise loans and advice members accordingly.
- Liaising with the CEO in coordinating credit sub-committee meetings by availing the required information, reports and duly appraised loan forms for consideration.
- Preparing documentation for disbursing funds to successful applicants as per the applicants’ request.
- Monitoring members’ loan repayments for compliance to the loan agreements.
- Preparing timely reports and recommendation to the management on all aspects of credit functions.
- Ensure maintenance of good filling system for all credit/loan documents.
- Check on the non-performing loans, extrapolate them, communicate to members and make follow up.
- Co-ordinate debt collection and guide the other staff on debt collection.
- Advise on legal/commercial issue regarding loan default.
- Write letters to guarantors and make follow up.
- Advise on credit policy according to the market trends.
- Maintain trend analysis on loans on a monthly basis.
- Monitor loan repayments monthly.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications for the Credit Officer Job
- Degree in business related studies
- At least CPA III
- At least three (3) years of experience in the financial/cooperative sector/microfinance and or banking industry in a similar or senior position.
- Certified Credit Professional from Kenya School of Credit Management is an added advantage
- Demonstrated experience in debt collection and understanding debt collection principles
- Should have good IT skills with experience of operating computer-based financial management systems and competent in Microsoft Office Packages.
- Should be able to communicate effectively
- Should be able to manage multiple tasks

- Should be an individual of high integrity and confidentiality.
