Job Summary:
As CRS point person for strategic partnerships with the Diocese of Lodwar and the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops Catholic Justice and Peace Commission (KCCB CJPC), the Senior Project Officer will provide technical guidance and advice to implementing partner staff and facilitate the achievement of project objectives through coordinating and reporting on all project activities. Additionally, s/he will apply relationship management skills and facilitate engagement of other CRS colleagues to coordinate CRS capacity building support to the national Caritas office as well as other partner dioceses across Kenya, and potentially also Caritas Somalia.
Roles and Key Responsibilities:
- Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities for the Enhancing Climate Change Adaptation in Turkana (ECCAT) project as well as emergency related projects such as Prevention of Election Violence (PEV) as outlined in the detailed implementation plans in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
- For each project, and along with CRS Kenya MEAL team, ensure learning properly accompanies activities throughout the project cycle. Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
- Coordinate and oversee working relationships between local partners (Diocese of Lodwar and KCCB CJPC,) and CRS programming and operations teams, including coordinating provision of logistical, technical and administrative support to partners.
- Provide accompaniment and on-the job-support for various processes and resources with local partners to ensure timely project activities implementation and adherence to established process standards and procedures. Ensure proper tracking of resource use for project activities through periodic budget reviews and follow-up with and assistance to implementing partners.
- Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices.
- Serve as a point person for CRS Kenya for receiving, planning and coordinating requests for support made by other Caritas partners, in exploration of potential partnership with CRS
- Serve as point person for coordinating CRS ongoing relationship management and technical support to Caritas National coordination team, including supporting drafting of emergency appeals and CRS-Caritas retreats and other strategic collaborations.

Required Languages– Excellent spoken and written English.
Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% within Kenya.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of social sciences, environmental science or community development or related field required. Degree in International Relations or Project Management would be a plus.
- Minimum of 6 years of work experience in project support and coordination, with a focus in local partner capacity development preferably in the NGO sector.
- Demonstrated commitment to respect, equity, diversity and inclusion including gender equality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
- Experience with capacity strengthening tools, resources or methodologies a bonus.
- Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
