Engineering Manager at African Management Institute

SUMMARY


The Engineering Manager will maintain a broad understanding of AMI’s technologies and business as well as actively coach and mentor team members in both project delivery and career development.


The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic international team focused obsessively on results. At AMI, we work hard, innovate constantly and have fun.


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintain a broad understanding of AMI’s technologies and business and a deep knowledge about the technical aspects of your product area

  • Manage and maintain our software development process and delivery cycle

  • Actively coach and mentor team members in both project delivery and career development

  • Work on business problems with non-technical peers in the organization

  • Actively advocate, improve, and stand up for AMI’s tech culture principles

  • Work with the team and key stakeholders to design, implement, and refine our development and testing process.

  • Strives to balance the quality of our solutions with time and technical debt, and to reduce waste.

  • Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success.

  • Communicates technical and project information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Define, delegate, and track project level work while ensuring visibility to team


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:



  • BS in engineering required

  • 4-5 years software development experience

  • 1-2 years of leadership experience

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and scrum based agile development process

  • Master’s degree in engineering or MBA a plus


MUST-HAVE SKILLS




  • Software Development

  • Familiarity with CI/CD and scrum based agile development process
