Duties and Responsibilities 


  • An officer at this level will be deployed as head of a Division. He/She is responsible to the Director of information for overall efficient management of a division. 

Specific duties and responsibilities will include:- 


  • Initiating, formulating and implementing information policies, programmes and strategies; 

  • Developing strategies for implementation of information research findings; coordinating information services; and  

  • Ensuring coverage of development projects in line with the Constitution and Kenya Vision 2030.  

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:


  • Served for a minimum period of 10 years, two (2) of which should have been at the grade of Principal Information Officer, CSG 8 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service;

  • A Bachelors Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; 

OR


  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Communication Studies, Media Studies/Science, Photojournalism or equivalent qualification from a university recognized in Kenya; and

  • Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability as reflected in work performance and results.
