Main Purpose of Job
To provide timely, accurate and efficient accounting and financial management support for HQ programmes in line with corporate finance policies, procedures and donor grant agreements.

Reconciling/handling debtors and creditors accountsCommunication with bank Communication with donors confirmations for wired fundsDonor reportingReconciliation of staff accountsMaintaining of country accountsKey Responsibilities
Operational Support
Short-term action plans and expenditure schedulingProcessing, approvals and coding of expenditure through the sun accounting system and internal recovering in accordance with approved work plans and budgetsPreparation of donor financial statements and reports and call down requests as specified in the respective grant agreements and other internal financial reportsAdvice to HQ Managers to resolved and discuss various financial and accounting issues and queriesCoordinate cash collection points and receipts bookReconcile cash collection and banking for all unitsCollecting/ receiving bank statements from the respective bankIdentifying direct debits (bank charges, standing orders) and credits and entering amounts in the accounting system Clearing all outstanding reconciling itemsPosting salary allocations for HQ cost centres from all payroll and informing country offices of the entries relating to their accountsSupporting the preparation of financial reportsPrint, review and distribute financial statements and audit trails for monitoring and controlsPreparing recharges to and from various unitsMaintaining a fixed assets register and schedule for all HQ cost centres Preparing reconciliation for the National Offices inter-company ledger accounts and clearing all reconciling items periodicallyProviding assistance to external auditorsRequired Qualifications
Education and knowledge
Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field Full professional accounting qualification, CPA (K) /ACCAHands on experience working with a computerized accounting system preferably with Sun System applications and excel spreadsheetsThorough understanding of Kenya tax laws, International Financial Reporting Standards and experience in application and enforcement of the standards at the corporate level3 years accounting experience in financial and project accounting preferably in the NGO environmentExperience in preparation and supervision of basic accounting ledger entries and extraction of the trial balance and financial statementsExperience handling multi-currency transactions NumericalConfidential Detailed ProactiveTeam workInterpersonalCommunication skillsProfessionalism EthicalIntegrityAbility to work within deadlinesMental Competencies
