Partnership with Care’s Adaptation Learning Programme in Garissa

CARE International in Kenya is looking for partnership with interested NGOs for the implementation of the Climate Change Adaptation Learning Program activities (ALP) in Garissa County.

ALP’s aim is to increase the capacity of vulnerable households in Sub-Saharan Africa to adapt to climate variability and change. The program period ends in 2014.

The role of the partner in implementing ALP’s initiatives together with the CARE team in Garissa County will include;

Conducting participatory planning and implementation of community based adaptation (CBA) strategies.Supporting community institutions in climate risk analysis and in planning adaptation actions.Conducting capacity assessment of community institution and building their capacity in adaptation planning and disaster risk reduction.Ensuring the participation of vulnerable groups in local planning processesParticipating in advocacy initiatives, learning forums and Monitoring & Evaluation.Duration: The duration of the partnership will initially be for one year, with a possibility of extension subject to successful partnership relations and achievements.

Organizations interested in this partnership should submit a detailed expression of interest that should include:

Brief organizational profile , the organization’s mission and activitiesExperience in programme implementation, partnerships with other donors/NGOs and government departments.The average annual budget handled by the organization.Registration with relevant Authorities.Good working relations with climate change actors in the areaSound monitoring and Evaluation SystemsExperience working with communities in Garissa County using participatory methodologiesInterested firms with expertise and experience in the implementation of the Climate Change Adaptation Learning Program activities (ALP) should submit their expression of interest to CARE International in Kenya offices, Mucai Road off Ngong Road in a sealed business envelope clearly marked:
