Accountant, Accounts Payable (Finance Department)

A position of an Accounts Payable Accountant has arisen in our Finance Department.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and manage the operations of the Accounts Payable section to ensure efficient processing and maintenance of the Accounts Payable transactions. This position reports to the Operations Controller.

Principal Responsibilities of this position are in 3 Core Areas: Supplier management, Net working capital and Performance Management as well as the following accountabilities:-

Streamline the supplier payment process including scheduling of payments.Reviewing of all supplier reconciliations and ensuring that there are no reconciling items that are older than one monthReview on a monthly basis the GRNI control accounts and ensuring that the amounts outstanding are below 60 days old.Review and check all invoice batches before confirming and updating the same in MFGMaintain a log of all disputed invoices and report monthly on action taken to resolve themManage payment to inter-company and overseas supplier and generate a forecast of FX payments on a weekly basis for the purposes of managing the Forex exposure.Spearhead automation of payment processes.Manage local supplier payments by among other things ensuring payments are done as per agreed terms, supplier relations are maintained and improvedManage the performance of direct reports including setting individual KPIS, tracking and measuring the performance of staff against the Key Performance Indicators on a quarterly basis.Developing the accounts payable team through on the job coaching and evaluating the training needs/proposing action to address the needs.Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Bachelors’ degree in Commerce, preferably Accounting/Finance optionCPA (K) or finalistKnowledge of various legal requirements regarding Government Taxes Knowledge of the Accounting cycle particularly Accounts payable cycle and General ledger Working Knowledge of fully integrated ERP systems 3 to 5 years in a busy Accounts Payable environmentAbility to align self to our core values of Courage, Accountability, networking, Drive and OnenessPotential to demonstrate our Global Competencies of Creating the Future, Working Together, being Adaptable, and Pursuing Success within the first six months of employmentPZ Cussons is an equal opportunity employer
