We started operations in 2005 through African Agricultural Capital (AAC) Ltd, a $9 million fund which is now fully invested. In 2010 we launched the African Seed Investment Fund (ASIF), a $12 million fund and
we expect to close a new $25 million Fund (AAC Fund LLC) within the next month. Our speciality is investing in agriculture-related businesses, supporting scale-up, access to new markets, access to leveraged capital and delivery of sustainable social returns. We will do this through privately negotiated equity, quasi-equity and debt investments in small to medium-sized enterprises operating within the agriculture value chain in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and neighboring countries.

Location: Kampala, Uganda
Type of Engagement Short term contract/Consultancy The purpose of the Job is to build the teams’ professional capacity in investment negotiation, structuring and deal execution in order to support the successful deployment and recovery of the investment funds * Review the current PCP practices and make improvement recommendations based on best practice and emerging trends in private equity
* Assess the capacity of the Investment team in investment negotiation, structuring and deal execution, design a capacity building plan and implement
* Actively and deliberately impart structuring expertise/perspective to PCP team
* Guide investment team activities, strategies and negotiations
* Act collaboratively with a focus on teambuilding and professional development The ideal candidate is a mid-level private equity professional (post-MBA vice president/principal):
* Advanced degree (MBA) preferred
* Minimum 8 years of experience with at least 3 of the most recent being in a private equity firm
* Experience with financial transactions and specifically, with private equity investing experience including:
o Extensive experience negotiating, structuring and closing a variety of transactions (please provide evidence in your application/proposal)
o Recent deal structuring experience, experience with “hairy deals” a plus
o Experience with quasi-equity instruments and/or mezzanine finance a plus
* Familiarity with the impact/social investing field a plus
* Familiarity with agriculture/agricultural business models a plus
* Developing or emerging markets experience a plus
* Excellent command of English is essential while fluency in French and/or Swahili will be definite advantage Your application or proposal should include:* A detailed CV focusing on the experience relevant to this role.
