Climate Pal, a leading company in Climate Change in Africa, specializes in designing, developing and implementing projects which fight climate change and that have strong social and environmental impact in Africa.
With full responsibility over the project and as a member of the Senior Management Team, the Operations Coordinator will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, with frequent visits to Embu County.
Operations Coordinator will be responsible and accountable for implementing a strategic and operational plan to grow the project in Kenya. She/he will coordinate teams locally consisting of District Coordinators and Field Officers, forming a team of up to 50 people in the area.
The focus of this position is on managing project implementation and growth, assuming a leader role in the organization, directing operations on the field while having responsibility over the team locally to assure distribution and follow-up of cookstoves in the area.Development of project uptake strategies, deploying the cookstoves throughout designated project areas;Develop a highly effective distribution network;People management: recruiting, directing and training members of his or her team;Implement a strategic plan to deliver results aligned with Company and Division objectivesManage project growth with full responsibility on operations Develop and execute an optimal distribution strategy to meet household expectations in respect of support, facility location and product/stove offeringsDeploy a monitoring strategy for effective usage of the cookstove and to account for carbon emissions reductionDevelop a reporting strategy to ensure all produced stoves are sold and usedTrain and coach the team and foster a strong team working environmentClient relationship building and maintenanceManaging communication and effective business dealings with distributors, stakeholders, and colleaguesGraduate (Business/Engineering/Management)?Project management skillsProven leadership skillsManagement experience (>5 years) - experience in development projects, management of businesses or NGOs in rural areas, exposure to start-up environmentsAbility to develop an ideal working environment that fosters cooperation, mutual respect and staff motivation, experience in training and recruitment peopleAbility to work and take decision independentlyKnowledge of rural distribution channels and ability to apply the information to complex situations, conduct research/break new ground, and provide expert support for the teamExperience in preparing and managing budgets and strategic plans and skilled in business plan developmentProven relational skills are requestedFluency in English and Kiswahili are requestedProven motivation for socio-environmental projectsPrevious experience in carbon related projects is a plusNational applicants from Kenya will be considered for this position
