Polish Humanitarian Action is looking for an individual willing to join in the actions carried out within the PAH Humanitarian and Development Aid as: WASH Tech Assistant
General information:
Location: primarily Jonglei State; all states of South Sudan
Duration: 11 months with the possibility of extension, depending on funding for following projects; starting date: July 2012
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Visits to the areas where WASH emergencies occur and responding to these emergencies through:Working under supervision of and providing technical support to WASH TechniciansRehabilitations and drilling of new boreholesBorehole and other water scheme repairsUpgrading boreholes to mini or full water yardsSetting up Surface Water Treatment plants (SWATs)Constructing emergency latrines, rehabilitating existing institutional latrinesCooperation and working with local pump mechanics Cooperation with local authorities and local communitiesMaintaining an accurate record and taking proper care of all field equipment and material stocks for the WASH ER TeamDocumentation and monitoring of water infrastructure, water point mappingDegree in Public Health, Hygiene Promotion, Community Development or relatedAt least 1 year of practical experience in relevant community development, Hygiene Promotion and/or Public Health; in design, implementation and evaluation of sanitation & hygiene interventionsEmergency response experienceGood planning, organization and reporting skills Very good command of written and spoken EnglishAbility to write clear reportsAbility to cope with simple living conditions in insecure environmentsTeam spirit, supporting a team of up to 7 peopleSelf-starter with a dose of creativityLanguage skills in Arabic/ Nuer and other local languagesExperience of working and living in South Sudan and Jonglei State in particular Ability to use communication technologies: Thuraya / radio Previous work experience in NGOsIf you are interested in applying for this position, please fill the application form, which you can find here: http://www.pah.h2.pl/aplikacja/index_en.php, please enclose copies of job certificates, and reference contact details to three former employers).
