Assistant Underwriting Manager Jobs at Britam, Kenya
This position is involved in the day to day operations across all lines of business ensuring effective and timely evaluation of risks, processing of new business, endorsement and renewals within the company underwriting guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage staff and resources, provide direction, set goals and ensure the department goals are attained
Assist Oversee activities of underwriting in the company
Assist in vetting all risks to ensure that only quality business is accepted into the company at acceptable rates to ensure profitability and achievement of the set loss ratio targets
Assist in Implementing the underwriting strategy, philosophy, policies and procedures
Ensure achievement of the agreed renewals retention targets
Assist to manage relationships with clients, intermediaries and service providers to ensure agreed service level agreements are achieved and goodwill with all stakeholders is maintained
Supervision, appraisal, training and development of staff in the department
Ensuring timely preparation of reports
Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Bachelors of Commerce degree (insurance option preferred)
Good progress in Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII )
Five (5) years underwriting insurance experience with at least three (2) years in supervisory level
Dynamic, mature and self-driven leader
Mentor, coach
