Vacancy: Communications Specialist – Part Time
Summary: Our client is an innovative young company that seeks to change the waste management and recycling space in Nairobi and beyond.
Successful applicants must be creative, possess strong skills in storytelling as well as writing; expertise in quality photography, photo editing and basic design is also required.
Key Responsibilities
Identifying and writing stories from the company’s work to share with different stakeholders
Creating content for website, blogs and social media
Managing, developing and distributing all print and electronic publications of the company collateral including newsletters and brochures
Undertaking quality photography of the company’s operations
Cultivating relationships with the local media (print, radio, TV) in order to distribute the company’s stories and to ensure favorable coverage.
Qualification and Background
At least 4 years experience in communications
Strong relationship building skills
Strong competency with graphic design programs, WordPress blogs and websites
Excellent writing and communications skills in English and Kiswahili
University degree in PR, Communications, journalism, media studies or the like
Skills and Character Traits
Great storyteller
Ability to break down complex issues into easy understandable writing
Demonstrate initiative and the ability to work effectively and enthusiastically within time constraints
Keen understanding of use of new technologies in communications
Thrive on challenge in a fast growing innovative start-up culture
Adaptability to both local and international business culture
High level of integrity
