Position: Safety and Security Officer
Reporting to: The Chief Marketing Officer
Primary Responsibilities:
- Liaison with the Police, Stewarding Contractor, Fire Service, Ambulance and FirstAiders, and County representatives regarding match administration and event arrangements.
- Ensure that the Match Officials are fully briefed on the safety and security procedures practiced within the Stadium in the event of an incident during an event.
- Overseeing and co-coordinating the operations within the Stadium on match / event days to ensure the smooth flow of the matches / event.
- Establishing and maintaining suitable systems and controls for the safety of spectators and match officials and staff.
- Co-ordinate and oversee a periodic practical evacuation exercise within the stadium involving the Teams, Stadium Staff, the Police, the Stewarding Contractor, medical staff, County representatives, etc.
- Carryout a pre-event “walk” inspection of the Stadium to allow the signing off of the Event Checklist to be presented to the Match Commissioner.
- Via internal pre-event meetings liaise with those responsible for match day Hospitality, Ticketing and Stadium Catering to ensure integrated planned delivery of events in conjunction with match officials.
- To produce and keep under review a Stewards manual outlining their duties in both normal and emergency situations.
- Undertake performance reviews and analyze development needs of your direct reports to ensure staff are appropriately trained in respect of health, safety and security issues.
- Appointing, deploying and ensuring the training of stewards and other safety personnel.
- Preparing and implementing contingency plans for preventing or resolving incidents or emergencies.
- Evaluating and reportin9 back to the venue management, the organizer and /I or relevant authorities on any matter affecting safety or security before, during or after the match.
- Ensuring that detailed records are maintained of all inspections, tests and event day arrangements.
- Briefing the media where this task is not undertaken by the senior management of the organizer
- Assist in the development and implementation of KPL safety and security policies.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance systems
- Understanding of all relevant legal, statutory and organizational requirements for controlling safety at public events
- Conversant with efficient control procedures that minimize assessed risks according to legal, statutory and organizational requirements

The Ideal Candidate:
- Must have evidenced experience of fulfilling a similar role of spectator safety management at sporting events.
- The candidate must be flexible and willing to work extended hours on occasion during times of peak activity that include weekends and public holidays.
- The ability to communicate to a hi9h standard and levels with clients, Government officials, public, contractors match officials and staff, both within and outside of the business circles.
- Must be “customer service” driven, with evidence of a strong client focus.
- Must have a hands-on and practical approach.
- Must demonstrate the highest professional standards of operation and service.
- Must be able to work with little supervision and manage time and priorities accordingly.
- Must have a flexible and resilient attitude.
- Must be able to make effective decisions in line with organizational goals and objectives.
- Must have the stamina and perseverance to cope with heavy workloads and the tendency to behave appropriately in pressurized or stressful situations.
Qualifications
- Qualifications in Health and Safety Management / Security management.
- At least five year experience in a safety and security management position.
- A university degree ¡n any field is desirable.
- Previous work with the armed forces, police, UNDSS is an added advantage.
