Job Introduction:

Reporting to the  Managing Director – Kenya, the Operations Director will manage the provision of contractual and ad hoc security services to customers, in compliance with legislation, G4S policies and procedures, to ensure achievement of budgeted financial targets. The incumbent is also responsible for monitoring the quality standards of Manned Security and Cash Solutions services, ensuring adherence to regional standards.

Operations Director Role Responsibility:

Responsible for the:

Strategic and functional operational leadership of the cash, manned security, secure journey business lines and Branch platform.

Profitable and ethical performance of the operations of the above.

Strategic allocation of resources both human and material for business performance.

Monitoring of key performance indicators.

Implementation of required standards, safety within operations and best practices.

Capability development within the operational sphere.

Support to the sales and solution development process.
Key Performance Areas for the G4S Job:

Effective, targeted Business Growth

Development of the cash, manned security, Branch and secure journey business strategies

Ensuring that pricing, risk and commercial contract terms are appropriately applied by businesses when entering into contracts for cash, SJM (close protection and event management) and manned security contracts and that price increase strategies are developed and applied

Support of the business sales and business development processes

Direct involvement in leading and negotiating major bids on optimal commercial/risk terms

Leadership of cost efficiency strategies, projects and activities

To manage and deliver upon targets for the Group Accelerated Best Practise projects

Optimizing direct costs

Management of effective service delivery to customers

Ensure appropriate measures are in place for effective service delivery to all customers under operations

The development of key contacts and relationships for effective service provision and management

Play an integral role in the Account Management of clients, ensuring Operations are represented at monthly meetings, developing actions plans to manage dissatisfaction and monitoring delivery

Development and implementation of Operations Strategy

Leverage and share the Group’s knowledge and best practice, credentials etc for the operations function

Implementation of the group minimum performance standards and EHS regulations

Embed the G4S Way in Operations, driving adoption of the modules in a robust and pragmatic manner

Develop and Manage Operations Structure

Ensure that G4S Kenya has an effective and efficient operations structure to deliver key business goals

Manages and coordinates multiple role players and creates structures and mechanisms to control operations

Delivery of risk mitigation and loss reduction initiatives

Working closely with the Risk Director to implement initiatives to minimize losses, claims and incidents

Working with the Risk Director and HR Director to ensure that a culture of Zero Harm is embedded in the organisation

People Management

Ensure the strategic management and deployment of people resources to achieve company goals

Ensure the implementation of minimum EHS strategies for attainment of set objectives

Ensure the development of capability within the operations function

The Ideal Candidate:
Attributes

Capable of working effectively and productively with team members from diverse cultural environments.

Flexibility and adaptability to rapid environmental changes

Demonstrable capability to develop people

Essential Knowledge

7/10 years progressive operations experience in a large manpower intensive commercial enterprise

International experience within the risk and security environments

Desirable Sector experience:

Integrated Security Solutions and / or Cash Operations experience

Skills

Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and negotiation skills

Superior presentation skills

Excellent team leadership skills

Ability to work in a multi-function matrix organization

Excellent ability to work at both a strategic and tactical level

Ability to manage through complex tasks and determine priorities

Commercial acumen with good knowledge of P&L, balance sheet analysis and budgetin

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate degree level qualification in business/ financial or operational fields of study.

An added advantage would be a financial qualification, and experience in similar industries.
