As a

Nova Teacher you will play a critical role in delivering an exceptional 21st

Century learning experience for our students.

Your

role is currently based at our Nova Ondiri Campus, Kikuyu Township, Kiambu

County

Reports To: Principal
 



  • You

    have a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and have specialized in the

    specified subject combination

  • You

    have at least 3 years of experience

  • You

    are energetic, curious and excited to learn new ways of instruction and

    student development

  • You

    are eager to grow and develop yourself professionally. You take feedback

    positively and use it as a tool to further develop.

  • Fully

    embrace Nova’s values and beliefs and promote them to students, staff,

    other faculty, parents and members of the outside community 

  • Work

    cohesively in a team, being respectful of each person’s contributions and

    style. 

  • Maintain

    positive, constructive and professional relationships with students, their

    families, and colleagues


  • Attend

    daily team, weekly staff and other meetings that arise throughout the

    school year


Instructional Roles and Responsibilities

  • Implement

    unit and lesson plans backwards mapped to standards and employ a variety

    of effective teaching strategies to meet the learning styles and interests

    of all students  

  • Create

    a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, is developmentally

    appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students, and maintain an

    organized and focused learning environment

  • Perform

    other job-related duties as assigned

  • Understand

    the school assessment philosophy and conduct ongoing assessment of student

    progress, using data obtained to adjust instructional content and

    techniques accordingly

  • Track

    and monitor assessment results in order to regularly refine teaching

    practices and provide interventions to guide struggling students to

    proficiency

  • Use

    assessment data to inform instructional practices

  • Maintain

    a portfolio of each student’s work and assessments throughout the year

    that shows a progression of skill, interest and activity.


Classroom and Student Work Expectations

  • Hang

    up materials that help students to better understand the content that is

    being taught during a specific unit.


Afterschool Roles and Responsibilities

  • Head

    one after-school opportunity for students each term

  • Head

    one club opportunity for students each term.

  • Make

    provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for

    education-related purposes outside of the instructional day when required

    or requested to do so under reasonable terms

  • Participate

    in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and

    school-wide functions

  • Provide

    feedback to the curriculum design team about lessons and the overall

    structure of a unit to ensure revisions are made


 Observation / Feedback and Professional Development

  • Observe

    other teachers as instructed by manager and fill out observation form to

    enhance personal teaching practice

  • Fully

    participate in opportunities for professional growth including  daily

    team meetings and reflections, weekly professional development meetings,

    instructional coaching, and outside professional opportunities


Parent Relationship Expectations

  • Provide

    bi-monthly or monthly updates to parents about the progress of their child

  • Writing

    and distributing end-of-term updates to parents which includes completing

    grades and writing comments for each student
