Summary

Our client is a multi-disciplinary property consultancy, firmly established as both a national and global leader in property & facilities management and corporate real estate services, with a presence in more than 35 countries globally.

With their assets under management growing rapidly, they are set to take on board a prestigious and unique mixed-use precinct in Nairobi. The development includes a PPP-grade office park, retail, and high-end residential apartments, and various other entertainment and destination facilities; as such it will require a General Manager who has had overall accountability for a similar “beast”.

Duties

You will primarily be responsible for the profitability and optimisation of the entire precinct, by building a culture of accountability among your 30-man strong permanent team & a large group of service providers. By guiding and developing staff members you will ensure they reach their KPIs and close the knowledge gaps they might have. Exceptional financial skills will be necessary for planning, directing, and coordinating the budget as well as keeping your expenses as low as possible to save costs and maximise your profits. This role will have you involved in all aspects of newly developed & existing properties; everything from the launch to leasing and marketing, facilities, and operations management. Reporting directly to the owners, you will be confident advising on risk, obligations, relationships, new development deals, and events.

It goes without saying that this role would only be suitable for someone with proven management skills leading a multi-cultural team, who is also fully conversant in all stages of the property asset management life-cycle.

Requirements

A university degree in Property, Finance, or Operations is required as a starting point, and we would like to see candidates that have been exposed to various asset classes, including hospitality.

Combined with at least 10 years’ property experience, you will need to have worked in an emerging market with demonstrable ability to deliver superior financial return, operational efficiency, tenant management and client satisfaction.
