Duties and
Responsibilities

• Assist in research problem identification that address
  provisioning of quality tree seed;


• Participate in conceptualization, formulation, design and
  implementation of multidisciplinary research projects in Seed Science;


• Undertake research in Seed Science;


• Verify results of seed quality tests and compile reports;


• Publish and disseminate research findings;


• Ensure cleanliness and safety in the laboratory and safe
  disposal of waste;


• Identification of consumables required for undertaking seed
  quality assurance and research and assisting in their procurement;


• Supervise and mentor junior staff, interns, students on
  attachment;


• Host technical and non-technical visitors;


• Prepare and sign KEFRI staff performance contract with your
  supervisor;


• Participate in implementing relevant ISO standards in
  Research and Development; Participate in compilation of departmental
  quarterly and annual reports; and


• Any other duty as assigned from time to time.

Requirements for
Appointment

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum
  aggregate ‘C+’ (C plus) or its equivalent qualification from a recognized
  institution;


• Bachelor of Science Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources
  Management or its equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;


• A team player, good in communication and report writing; and


• Certificate in Computer Application
